NFL Brief- Week 5

Parity- n. equivalence; correspondence; similarity; analogy. NFL 2008 season- filled with parity. Through 5 weeks there are 17 teams in the NFL with a .500 record or better. There are seven more that are 2-3 and still in playoff contention. Thats 24/32 (75%) of all teams still have a good chance at making a bid for the Superbowl and the Lombardi trophy. Sure there are a few slugs, Kansas City, Cincinnati, St.Louis, Detroit, Houston, but this season is wide open and players are working harder than ever to get to the playoffs.

Lots of great games this week-- as I spent them at a bar with bottle in hand, head turning to every TV with every ooh and aahhh and every annoying Dolphin fan singing this god awful chant everytime they scored, got a first down, went to commercial, ate a wing, basically on any human movment they started this chant, "Miam Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins #1..." real intuitive and equally creative.

The Atlanta "Peregrine" Falcons finally beat a good team, and maybe just maybe we can call them a reputable opponent. The Falcons clipped the Packers in a shootout 27-24. Aaron Rodgers who many people benched in their fantasy leagues due to concern over his sprained shoulder, played and played well. He tossed 3 TD's on over 300 yards, but it wasn't enough to beat Matt Ryan, Micheal Turner and the Falcons who improve to 3-2 on the year.

Undefeated teams- GGGG-Men and the Titans at 5-0

Not because I don't like the Giants, but because I dislike the entire Manning family...

Prediction
Giants go 5-7 the rest of the way, and that's giving them 1 game I shouldn't. I'll call it accounting for the improbable, which they seem capable of from time to time, see last season's playoffs/superbowl & avg 1.4pt margin of victory

Excluding Washington, the G-Men have played opponents with a combined 1-12 record...
and they needed OT to beat the hapless Cincinatti Bengals

G-Men 2008 = Overrated
